ECDYSIS
Everyone wants to be part of a story, and everyone is. What they really want is to be part of something wroth recording. It’s the fear of mortality, that ‘I was here and I mattered’ mind-set. The key to this obstacle is change. Change is what a story is after all, and the more notable the change the more thrilling, the more notable, the more extraordinary the story becomes. And yet we as humans fear change. As creatures of habit we find comfort in normalcy, in sticking with what we know even if it is depriving us of of what is best. This series of photos is entitled “Ecdysis,” the process of shedding old skin, and it proves to show what can happen when you do just that.
Creativity is vulnerability. Without shedding that layer of skin which protects you from the critical eye of society, you may never experience the beauty of complete internal freedom, and in-turn what it will create. Pursue the ache in your soul of a passion yet found, a person yet loved, or a journey yet chased. Find inspiration in small moments, seek visions in strangers, and obtain a voice in taking chances. Let yourself enter into a realm of endless possibilities and you’ll find that life is just beginning.
Maybe you are someone who is still investigating your life and thinking about the world, feeling native to nowhere. We put on disguises sometimes, to pose as people we are not, to hide or to blend in, or just to see what will happen. “Ecdysis” is a photo series created to encourage you to invent, not imitate; find who you are. Shed the skin that no longer belongs to you. Shed the habits, feelings, and people that are only pulling you down, and chase a more infinite way of living.
